Angel’s way

Angels are assigned by God to look after humanity. They are spiritual beings higher than human beings but the one thing they cannot do is enter into the human mind and dictate our will to make decisions.

St. Michael, St. Raphael and St. Gabriel are the principal angels called the Archangels. They are sent here on earth as messengers to spread the Good News of the Lord. They have this particular role to protect, guide and guard us.

There are angels who are exclusively or particularly assigned to each one of us – they are called our guardian angels.  We do not notice them nor pay attention to them even though they are always near to us. We do not even have a devotion of praying and asking for their intercession when we are in immediate and great need of help. Yet, I have sometimes heard that when other people have experienced something miraculous or so inexplicable to their minds, they will say immediately “…your angel has helped you…”, or “there is an angel”. Sometimes we will even say to another person, “you are an angel” or “she/he is an angel”.

We can be an angel to one another if we do something good for others. We need to listen and then follow the just and true way for the good of others – that is the angel’s way which is leading you to follow the right path to God.

With our Christian faith, we believe in the existence of angels.  They are created by God, are like God and have spiritual powers to help us.  Let us book a date to remember them and thank God for our guardian angels – especially on their feast days, starting tomorrow, on September 29 (Feast of Sts Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, Archangels) and October 2 (Memorial of the Guardian Angels). Be with Him in your prayers as you say: “Lord, thank you for bringing us angels and for their presence in our lives.”

Prayer

Angel of God
My guardian dear
To whom God’s love
entrusts me here
Ever this day
be at my side
to light and guard
to rule and guide.

Amen
