As I have done for you

As we begin the Easter Triduum with the tender moment of Jesus washing the feet of His disciples, let us pause for a moment to feel the depth and breadth of His love shown to them – and to us today.

God is perfect love. He loves everybody, even those people who persecute Him and do not accept Him. He shows us how to overcome difficulties in life, pain, the loss of a friend, sufferings and persecutions.  Throughout these times He stands still with dignity to face these challenges in life.

I think Jesus’ heart has been broken so many times. We will see in the coming days how even His closest friends deny Him. Does that ring true today?

Yet He never utters a single word of complaint.  He does the Will of the Father, sacrificing Himself totally for those who were alive on earth over 2000 years ago, all the way through history to this very day for you and me.

Can we serve others as He has done – and continues to do – for us?  Are we able to accept and share God’s perfect love?
