The image above depicts Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska who received messages from our Lord Jesus Christ. These messages were written down in notebooks which are accessible to us today in a book called Divine Mercy in My Soul: Diary of Saint Faustina Kowalska. Do find a way to get this book in hardcopy, the ebook version, or search for excerpts of the messages on the Internet. God is eager to impart His messages of Divine Mercy for humanity, especially today.
Now is the time of Mercy. The Divine Mercy of Jesus is for you and for the whole world. Do you believe this? Can you see why we need this more so in our time?
The Divine Mercy message is simple, and if we respond to this devotion Our Lord will shower graces, conversions, and forgiveness upon us and the whole world. In fact, if the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Rosary are the only two prayers you cling to every day (as well as reading Holy Scripture), you are doing well on the road to heaven.
Now is not the time to run away and hide. Even if we must be physically separated and enclosed due to the current pandemic, we can still make a difference for God and each other in our homes, with our humble practices, virtual prayer groups and gatherings, phone calls, and other means of communications if we have the means. We can send a note or letter to those who do not have the latest technology or Internet access. We must not forget these people in particular. We can be together spiritually, with St Faustina, in our little cells and cenacles of prayer.
Can you not see how God is calling us during this pandemic to turn within, repent, cleanse ourselves, and return to Him? Are we getting ready to see Him again soon perhaps? This is what we live for and what we used to pray together in our churches at Mass: “Thy Kingdom come…” This call is not just for religious and priests, but for all of us! God is using this pandemic for our good. Get ready.
This is Divine Mercy in action: to love one another through God’s Word, and to show it through our actions. We must defend our Catholic faith, not with violence, but with the love which God is pouring out on us. God is love and mercy, but one day He will also reveal His justice according to what each person has done in their lifetime. This is not meant to scare us, but to compel us to action, faithfulness, and a deeper conversion out of love for Him, even if we have been lifelong practising Catholics.
Now is the time of His mercy and we must take advantage of it. This means priests, religious brothers and sisters, lay people – all of us together as God’s united army of mercy and love.
A blessing of the current time – for those who have access – is evangelisation of our Catholic faith through online communications and social media.

As some cities and localities have returned to lockdown – this is the case for us here in Melbourne, Australia – we must use this time for something positive and beautiful for ourselves and our neighbour.
Please do not miss this opportunity to grow in your love for Jesus through His Divine Mercy. His rays of forgiveness, love, healing, and renewal are reaching out to you now from His heart. While we have time, let us be doers and say ‘yes’ to His call to each of us in all of our vocations.
Spread this message to as many people as you can. Belief in God’s mercy is what we all need to catch.
We pray together:
Eternal Father,
I offer you the Body and Blood,
Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son,
Our Lord, Jesus Christ,
in atonement for our sins
and those of the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion,
have mercy on us and on the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion,
have mercy on us and on the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion,
have mercy on us and on the whole world…
JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU
