What a great gift!

Peace Bible Quote - John 14:27

After Jesus’ death, the Apostles locked themselves in the upper room because they were terrified that what Jesus had experienced might happen to them. Then Jesus fulfilled His promise that on the third day He would rise from the dead. Then Jesus appeared to them…

“Peace” was the first word that Jesus uttered to the Apostles when He appeared to them after His death.  He breathed that word of peace upon them together with the love of God the Father and the power of the Holy Spirit.  Jesus offered peace to his disciples who had locked themselves away because of fear. This peace is also a great gift from the Holy Spirit to us, especially when we feel deeply troubled.  It is a peace that sets us free from any stress, fear, anger, depression, any aches of pain, suffering and many other negative feelings that prevent us from seeing the beauty of the life we are meant to live.

Peace in our hearts, in our families, in our world overcomes fear. If the peace of Christ reigns in our hearts, our love becomes possible and perfect because it comes from Jesus, the Prince of Peace, and He is concerned for our wellbeing. His peace is an act of mercy, and His merciful heart offers us the great and wonder of peace.

Asking forgiveness for what wrong we have done to ourselves and to others is the beginning of the peace that reigns in our hearts. Let us be the ambassador and the channel of peace like Jesus – no matter how much He had been brutally condemned and then put to death, He still opened His heart to forgive us.  This shows that His heart is full of love for us – and that love overpowers all the evil things of this world.

Let us pray that our hearts will be transformed into hearts like His and that we may have hearts that know how to forgive ourselves, first of all, and others. It is a journey to forgive the moment there is wrong done.  It is a daily commitment and it is the only way to have a stress-free journey when we say sorry for the wrong things we have done.

I know that it is not easy to humble ourselves to say sorry, ask for forgiveness and to live in peace. However, once we have received that gift of peace in our hearts, we will be free from any heartaches and it shall be easier for us to move on and continue the journey of faith, hope and love.
