Today, 16 May 2016, is a day of rejoicing because it is the 119th foundation anniversary of the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus (RCJ), founded by Saint Annibale Maria Di Francia on 16 May 1897. The Rogationists’ charism is based on the divine words of Jesus:
The harvest is great but the labourers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest so that he may send labourers in his harvest. (Mt 9:37-38; Lk 10:2)
On this day also is the 12th canonization anniversary of our Father Founder, St Annibale. We remember that on 24 October 2002, the Diocesan Tribunal of Jaro, Iloilo, in the Philippines opened the process on the presumed miraculous recovery of the child Charisse Nicole Diaz, through the intercession of Blessed Hannibal, from Guillain-Barre syndrome. Appropriately enough, this event was recognized as a miracle and allowed to proceed for the cause of his canonization in 2004.
St Annibale died on On 01 June 1927 and his incorrupted body is now venerated in the Temple of Evangelical Rogation in Messina, Italy.
Let us continue to pray to the Master of the harvest:
Send O Lord Holy Apostles into Your Church!
St Annibale Maria, pray for us. Happy Feast Day!
