Octave of Prayer for the Unity of Christians

Christian unity

Starting today (18 January) the Church prays to actualize the desire of Jesus: the unity of all His disciples (cf Jan.27, 20-23).

During the octave, our prayer to the Lord of the Harvest in the name of Jesus becomes more intense and heartfelt to give rise in the different Churches, apostles and witnesses of unity among Christians.  It is also translated into a concrete commitment for a journey of permanent conversion, as the Second Vatican Council reminds us:

All the faithful will remember, that in as much as they promote, or better still, they live the unity of Christians, the more they study how to live a life more conformed to the Gospel (Unitatis Redintegratio, 7).- United in Prayer,p 123.
