St. Annibale’s legacy

St. Annibale Ma. di Francia was proclaimed by the Church The Apostle of Prayer for Vocations and the Father of the Orphans and the Poor on the day of His canonization, May 16,2004. ROGATE, to pray for Holy Vocations, is his legacy that he handed to his spiritual children, the Daughters of Divine Zeal and the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus, the two congregations he founded. He was inspired by the gospel of Matthew 9:35-38:

Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

This text was his fixation and became the rule of the life, spirituality and charism of the institute. This charism, a gift from the spirit, was inspired by St. Annibale and this gift is the gift, too, for the Church.
